How to run from a USB memory stick |

It is possible to run Easy To-Do from a USB memory stick. This is useful when you work with different computers and always want to have your tasks available.
We recommend you to follow this instruction, which is also suitable if you want to select a custom database folder.
1. Close Easy To-Do if it is running
If you want to also have the program files on the memory stick, perform steps 2-4, otherwise go directly to 5:
2. Copy all files from "C:\Program Files\Peganza\Easy To-Do" (or the folder where you installed Easy To-Do) to a folder on your memory stick (like "E:\ET_Program", if E: is the drive name for your memory stick).
3. Also copy your ETODO.INI file to this folder. You find this file under "C:\Documents and Settings\<ACC>\Application Data\Peganza\Easy To-Do", where <ACC> is your Windows account name. If Easy To-Do finds an INI file in its application folder, it will read that one and not the one in the default location under "C:\Documents and Settings".
4. Start Easy To-Do from your memory stick (find the USB memory stick drive and ETODO.EXE file in Explorer, and double-click)
5. Enter Tools|Options and check "Custom database folder". Also enter a valid path to a folder on the memory stick where you want to keep the database files, like "E:\ET_Data" (if E: is the drive name for your memory stick).
6. Your database files will after a confirmation question be moved to your memory stick folder. The original database files will still be left in the original folder, but with ".obsolete" appended to the file name.
7. Make sure to update shortcuts to Easy To-Do, so it is always started from the new location.
Make sure that you frequently make backups of your database files, in case the memory stick stops functioning.
Also be aware, that the time needed to start Easy To-Do will probably be longer, because of the longer access time for the memory stick. This is especially valid for large databases with thousands of items. Also, backup is done when the application is started, which also adds to the start-up time needed.
